Man dies after fatal shooting at a London West End club

A man has died in hospital after he was shot inside a nightclub in London's West End.

Police were called to the Avalon club in Shaftesbury Avenue at about 03:00 GMT.

The Metropolitan Police said the victim suffered multiple gunshot wounds. He has not yet been formally identified.

A man has been arrested and is being questioned at a south London police station, a spokesman for the force said.

Shaftesbury Avenue has been closed while police investigate.
