A 14-year-old boy has appeared in court charged with raping his mother.

The teenager, from Blackpool, Lancashire, who cannot be named for legal reasons, appeared at Preston Crown Court for a preliminary hearing.

The boy was bailed until his next appearance at Preston Crown Court on 19 May, when he is expected to enter a plea.

A provisional trial date at the same court has been scheduled for 27 October.
