Simon Cowell to try and recruit Rihanna for X Factor

2012-12-15 21:56:32

Simon Cowell is planning on meeting superstar Rihanna to ask her to become an X Factor judge, reports claims.

Cowell believes the Diamond singer will 'save' the flagging shows and is prepared to offer the 24-year-old a job on either the UK or US version, according to reports.

Media Mogul Cowell, 53, always spends Christmas on the Caribbean Island of Barbados, where Rihanna is planning on spending the festive season.

A source told The Sun: 'Simon is a huge admirer of Rihanna and knows she's star quality. As well as her bringing an aura to the panel thanks to her standing in music, she is also feisty.'

An X Factor source said Cowell is a huge fan of Rihanna's but denied the pair are planning to meet regarding the show.

Cowell has reportedly been deeply worried about the show and given that he spends Christmas in Barbados, where Rihanna will be over the festive period, he is said to be planning to approach her to get her on board.

There's little doubt that the X Factor UK is losing favour with television audiences.
Last Saturday night just 9.3million viewers tuned in 1.3million fewer compared with the same show last year.

Two years ago, the show was hitting an average of 14.1million each week and the final show of the series attracted almost 20million viewers.
