Superstar Rihanna has reportedly donated at least one thousand sleeping bags to New Yorkers displaced by superstorm Sandy.

The Diamonds hit-maker was said to have sent the much needed bags to the New York Daily News' relief drive, which were then delivered to victims all over the city.

In an email to New York Daily News Rihanna was said to have wrote: "Now is the time for us to come together and do whatever we can to aid those in need."

On top of her already good deed the singer transformed her album release party at Jay-Z's 40/40 club in the city last week into a 'fundraising drive', which asked fans to donate basic household essentials such as like diapers and cleaning supplies.

The news comes after reports that scores of New Yorkers are still unable to return to their homes despite several high-profile relief efforts around the most effected borough's.
