Rihanna Beats One Direction To Singles Chart Top Spot

2012-10-08 01:22:38

Rihanna has landed her sixth UK No 1 single, going straight to the top spot in this week's Official UK Singles Chart with Diamonds.

The Barbadian babe beat stiff competition from a host of high-profile new entries including One Direction and Adele.

RiRi's latest track pushed K-Pop phenomenon Psy and Gangnam Style into second place, while 1D's new single Live While We're Young could only manage the No 3 spot, despite having topped the midweek charts.

Adele's James Bond theme Skyfall entered the charts at No 4, having only been released on Friday (5 October), and another new entry, Ellie Goulding's Anything Could Happen, popped up at No 5.

Over in the Official UK Albums Chart, Muse landed their fourth consecutive UK chart-topping LP with The 2nd Law.

The indie rockers pushed last week's No 1, Mumford & Sons' Babel, into second position, as Pink held her third place spot with The Truth About Love.

Another non-mover was The Killers' Battle Born at No 4, while Emeli Sandé's Our Version Of Events climbed back into the top five.
