Jessie J has been announced as the headline act of a new music festival to be held in Birmingham.

Organisers of the Fusion Festival hope to see up to 60,000 people attend the two-day event at Cofton Park.

The festival, on 31 August and 1 September, will also include Ne-Yo, JLS, McFly and The Wanted.

The site, adjoining the Lickey Hills Country Park, received an international audience when it hosted Pope Benedict XVI's Mass in September 2010.

Fusion Festival organisers said it would be "a huge weekend of pop at its very best".

The new event is due to be held over the same weekend as the existing Moseley Folk Festival, whose organisers said they were confident of attracting a good audience, despite the competition.
