Jay Z & Beyonce helped bail out Baltimore protesters anonymously

Jay Z and Beyoncé donated tens of thousands of dollars to help bail out protestors in Baltimore and Ferguson, Mo., who could not pay their bails, according to activist, author and filmmaker Dream Hampton.

In a series of tweets that have now been deleted, Hampton wrote on Sunday: "I'm going to tweet this and I don't care if Jay gets mad."

"When we needed money for bail for Baltimore protesters, I asked hit Jay up, as I had for Ferguson, wired tens of thousands in mins."

"When BLM need infrastructure money for the many chapters that we're growing like beautiful dandelions, Carters wrote a huge check."

"...and more stuff, too much to list actually, that they always insist folk keep quiet."

Soon, after deleting her tweets that she later called "error-ridden" (but which Complex snapshot and posted here), Hampton followed up with more words:

She also spoke with the Guardian, confirming that Jay Z helped bail out protestors from jail but did not provide any further specifics. 

Hampton is the co-author of Jay Z's 2010 autobiography, Decoded

This is not the first we've heard of Jay Z quietly supporting the Black Lives Matter movement in the wake of a number of police brutality cases over the past year. In December it was reported he helped smuggle in "I Can't Breathe" T-shirts to players at a Brooklyn Nets game against the Cleveland Cavaliers, which included the royal couple, Prince William and Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, in attendance.

He also met with New York governor Andrew Cuomo that same month to discuss possible reforms for the justice system and then later spoke out in support of Cuomo's plan to improve police relations.
