US SOUL singer Anthony Hamilton has said his recent Grammy nominations took him by surprise.
The critically acclaimed star is up for two awards, including best R&B album for Back to Love, which was released in December in 2011 to what he described as minimal "buzz".
In a recent interview he said: "My music didn't have much of a buzz, so I was amazed about what I heard."
"It's great to know that my music is still being recognized. It shows that all the hard work is paying off."
The 41-year-old will go head to head with singers including R Kelly, Tamia and Tyrese to take home the gong for best album.
The awards will be held at Los Angeles' Staples Cente on Feb 10.
