A Premier League footballer has sparked outrage among fans with an photograph of him wiping his bottom with a wad of £20 notes.
In the image, West Bromwich Albion defender Liam Ridgewell, 28, is pictured squatting over a toilet with his trousers around his knees, as £20 notes litter the bathroom floor.
Ridgewell, who is understood to be earning more than £20,000 per week, has said the photo was a 'joke' to wind up a friend.
But the photo was sent to The Sun by an unnamed West Brom fan and has since spread all over Twitter, sparking outrage among fans. Here is a flavour of what's being said.
@brettoddy: 'Absolute whopper!!!!!! Liam Ridgewell, the most brain-dead moron in football. Money doesn't buy class.'
@MarcusStead: 'Everything I detest about modern football can be summed up by reading this, or even just by looking at the picture.'
@sweeneybull: 'Just shows you the kind of respect footballers have today'
@northstokie: 'Some footballers really don't help themselves'
Meanwhile, the spoof account @thefletcher24 took a slightly different tack, asking: 'Is Liam Ridgewell poor? Why aren't they £50's?'
