A man has admitted causing the death of a Birmingham pensioner in a hit and run.

Alice Lucas, from Sheldon, was crossing the Coventry Road, Yardley, on Saturday morning when the crash occurred.

The 80-year-old suffered "multiple serious injuries" in the incident, West Midlands Ambulance Service said.

Nathaniel Teague, 26, of no fixed address, pleaded guilty on Monday to eight charges, including causing death by dangerous driving.

Teague failed to stop at the scene of the incident and the blue Vauxhall Astra he had been driving was later found dumped in Olton, Solihull.

During the hearing at Birmingham Magistrates' Court, he also pleaded guilty to aggravated vehicle taking, driving without insurance, causing death by driving a vehicle without a licence, failing to stop at the scene of an accident and failing to report an accident

Teague was remanded in custody and is due at Birmingham Crown Court for sentencing on 18 March.
