2014-12-20 19:18:12

A man has been shot by masked raiders at his home in the West Midlands.

The 22-year-old was taken to hospital with wounds to his stomach but is said to be in a stable condition.

Three men broke into his family home on Turton Road, Tipton, at about 20:00 GMT on Friday.

West Midlands Police said the men, described as black and wearing balaclavas, demanded money, but made off empty handed.

Five other people in the house, including a young baby, were unhurt.

A cordon remains in place around the property while investigations are carried out.

West Midlands Police said other officers were checking CCTV footage in the area, but appealed for any witnesses to come forward.

"This was a terrifying ordeal for the family and we urgently need to track down the men responsible," Det Sgt Adam Austin said.
