A student has died after being knocked down by a car in Birmingham.

Chloe Adkins was hit by a Mercedes on the Hagley Road between Plough and Harrow Road and the Five Ways Island at about 15:00 GMT on Friday.

The road was closed for several hours. The 20-year-old, originally from Northampton and studying in the city, died on Saturday, police said.

A 56-year-old man had minor injuries. Police have again appealed for anyone who saw the crash to come forward.

A spokesman said: "We are investigating the movements of the silver Mercedes prior to the crash and what led to it being involved in a collision with a pedestrian."
