Amhar MohammedAmhar Mohammed was jailed for sexually assaulting a six-year-old girl.

A ‘despicable’ paedophile who sexually assaulted a girl of six after overpowering her at a party was caught in the act by the child’s horrified mother.

Amhar Mohammed, of Keepers Close, Hockley , was attending the celebration at an address in Birmingham, in May this year when he subjected the vulnerable girl to a terrifying attack in a bedroom.

He denied the allegations but was found guilty by a jury at Birmingham Crown Court after a four-day trial.

Mohammed was jailed for three-and-a-half years and handed a Sexual Harm Prevention Order which prevents him living with any girl under 16 or having any unsupervised contact with girls under 16.

He will also be required to sign the sex offenders register for life.

Det Con Phil Langstone, of West Midlands Police’s Child Abuse Investigation Unit, said: “This was a despicable act against a young, vulnerable girl who Mohammed was able to overpower.

“Despite denying the charge put to him a jury saw through his lies and he will now rightly spend time behind bars.

“This case is evidence that we will take these kinds of reports seriously and we would encourage anyone who has been in similar circumstances to have confidence in coming forward and reporting it to us.”

Incidents can be reported to police on the 101 number, or to remain anonymous contact the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
