reported

A road has been closed after part of it collapsed leaving a large hole

A section of about 107 sq feet (10 sq m) appeared in Henley Street, Bordesley Green, at about 12:00 BST.

The road is maintained for Birmingham City Council by contractor Amey and workers have since cordoned it off.

Henley Street is shut between Port Hope Road and Stratford Street North. Subsidence has not been confirmed and links with the morning's heavy rain are being investigated.

A council spokesperson said: "An Amey crew attended the hole within around 20 minutes of it being reported and have made it safe.

"We are investigating the cause."
