Manhunt after attempted abduction of 15-year-old girl

Police in Redditch are hunting a man in connection with a suspected attempted abduction of a teenage girl.

The incident, which involved a 15-year-old girl, happened between 2am and 2.10am on Saturday morning.

The girl was approached on Abberley Close, on a path known locally as the ‘black path’.

The man is described as being black, in his 20s, of medium build and possibly with a shaved head.

He is described as having protruding cheek bones, big lips and blue eyes.

He was wearing dark clothing. and he also had a local accent.

The girl said she was making a phone call when she was approached by a man who tried to grab her.

The girl received minor cuts and bruises to her face during the incident, but did not require hospital treatment.

Detective Inspector Tim Bower, from West Mercia Police said: “We’re extremely concerned about this incident which has been traumatic for the victim.

“It could have been a lot more serious.

“We are very keen to speak to anyone who was an in the area at this time or who saw anyone acting suspiciously.”
