A man suspected of stabbing a pregnant woman in a Birmingham car park has been named by police.

Leon Harrison, 33, is thought to have left the Fitness First car park in Stirchley in a silver car after the stabbing at about 14:00 BST on Monday.

Officers urged anyone who sees Mr Harrison to call 999 and not approach him.

The victim, who is known to Mr Harrison, is in a critical but stable condition in hospital.

Police said the woman, 31, was in the early stages of pregnancy.

Mr Harrison, from Kings Heath, is also known to visit Selly Oak and the Lickey Hills area of Worcestershire.

Panther tattoo

He is described as black, 6ft 2ins, heavily built with brown eyes and a small goatee beard and four "gold canine teeth".

West Midlands Police said he had a distinctive panther tattoo on his right arm and a large cross on his lower left arm.

He also has letters tattooed on both sides of his neck and a scar on the right side of his jaw.

Detectives said they also wanted to speak to the male driver of a blue Renault vehicle who was leaving the car park in Pershore Road as the attack happened.

Det Insp Justin Spanner said officers were trawling CCTV in the area and had visited a number of addresses known to Mr Harrison.
