Man held after officer hit by car in Birmingham

A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a police officer was hit by a car in Birmingham.

The officer suffered a suspected fractured pelvis attempting to stop a car in the Erdington area following reports of an intruder in a shed.

The 44-year-old was taken to hospital, where he remains in a serious but stable condition.

A 50-year-old-man was arrested in Aston after a short chase on foot, West Midlands Police said.
