Man charged with Hall Green baby assault

A Birmingham man will appear in court this morning to hear allegations he assaulted a four-week-old boy in the city.

Unemployed Ben Gilkes, 25, from Stratford Road, Sparkhill, has been charged with the alleged assault - said to have taken place in the Hall Green area - and will appear before the city's magistrates court.

A child remains seriously ill in hospital.
