The M6 in Birmingham has been closed after a woman died on the motorway in the early hours.

Police said the woman fell from a bridge between junction seven, at Great Barr, and the junction with the M5.

The northbound carriageway between the two junctions is completely closed with traffic queuing back to junction five at Castle Bromwich.

Police said it could be closed for "some time". Officers said all lanes on the southbound side had been reopened.

However, queues were stretching back to the junction with the M6 toll road.
