A driver had a lucky escape when a tree fell on his car - suffering just minor injuries.

Paramedics said the man, aged in his 50s, had to be cut free from his vehicle in Truemans Heath Lane in Hollywood, Birmingham on Friday night.

The car had suffered "significant damage" to its front end and roof. The driver was taken to hospital with cuts and bruises, ambulance crews said.

The strong winds overnight also lifted tiles from a home in Bordesley Green.
