2013-05-01 22:39:47

A woman has been treated in hospital after shots were fired in Birmingham.

Armed officers searched the area around Guild Close, Ladywood, after reports of shooting at about 03:00 BST on Tuesday.

A 47-year-old woman was taken to hospital after suffering a head wound during the incident, caused by shattered glass.

West Midlands Police said officers conducted house-to-house inquiries and were now reviewing CCTV footage to try to identify the person responsible.

Det Ch Insp Simon Wallis, from the Gangs Task Force, said it could be connected to another incident, earlier in the evening.

He said officers had been called out to reports of disorder in Guild Close at about 23:40 BST on Monday.

"My team are looking into whether the two matters are linked and are keen to hear from any witnesses or anyone in the community who may have information about who is responsible," he said.
