An NHS doctor was Tasered and arrested after allegedly going on the rampage on a suburban estate, threatening neighbours with a knife and hurling stones at luxury cars.

The 43-year-old, named locally as Fatima Wakawa, was said to have gone “berserk” outside her £220,000 home, causing thousands of pounds of damage.

She was allegedly heard threatening to kill terrified onlookers with a kitchen knife before plunging it into one neighbour’s front door in an attempt to get in.

She was then seen dropping to the ground as police fired a Taser at her after she failed to calm down.

The incident took place in Sutton Coldfield in the West Midlands on the morning of November 8, and was witnessed by several residents of the new-build estate.

Nigerian-born Ms Wakawa was said to have targeted Porsche, Jaguar and BMW cars during the apparent wrecking spree, allegedly hammering them with ornamental boulders and plant pots.

Her husband is believed to have been out at a dance class with the couple's children at the time.

One witness, who did not wish to be named, said: "It was a surreal situation. There were rocks and dirt from the plant pots on top of the cars and she was pacing around.

"I know that the bodywork of the Porsche and BMW cars were damaged particularly badly, and the back windows had also been smashed.

"The Jaguar XF's body also looked to have been badly damaged.

"One person ran in the house and there was damage to the front door.

"Obviously the kids were off school as it was a weekend and it's lucky nobody was injured. I don't know the people or even her name, but they have always seemed very pleasant and quiet."

Another local resident added: "She just went berserk and came out wielding a knife. It was pretty scary stuff.

"She was trying to get into the home of a Chinese lady and stabbed at the door.

"My friend had his BMW damaged. He was gutted as he spent about £50,000 on it and it was his pride and joy."

Jeremy Franklin, 34, who lives nearby, added: "When police arrived she just wouldn't cooperate. After a little bit of shouting and nothing happening one of the officers I think was authorised to get her under control.

"They fired a Taser. I don't know where it hit her but she went down like a sack of spuds."

Keith Fenton, who also watched the scene unfold, said: "I saw the police get this lady in the middle of the road and they Tasered her. One minute she was there, then she fell to the ground."

Neighbours said Ms Wakawa had studied at the University of Maiduguri in her native country before moving to the UK to work as a doctor.

A West Midlands Police spokesman said officers had been called to the estate following "several reports of a woman in possession of a knife and damaging cars".

"A 43-year-old woman who was still believed to be armed with a knife, was Tasered after refusing to comply with officers' requests.

"She was arrested on suspicion of affray and has been bailed and sectioned under the Mental Health Act.

"Several cars were damaged but no-one was hurt in the incident."
