2012-12-31 18:49:01

Two police officers were taken to hospital after their car overturned following a crash in Wolverhampton.

The female officers were responding to a 999 call about disorder outside a pub when their patrol car was involved in a collision with a Fiat Punto.

The crash happened near the junction of Snow Hill and Ring Road St Georges at about 21:20 GMT on Sunday.

The officers were not seriously hurt and the occupants of the other vehicle did not need hospital treatment.

West Midlands Police said the incident has been reported to the force's professional standards department, as are all collisions involving police vehicles.

Ch Insp Neil Hobson said: "We have already spoken to a couple of witnesses and are currently identifying CCTV cameras which may have captured the incident, but we are still keen to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time and either witnessed the crash or saw the vehicles just before."
