Paralympic gold medal winning swimmer Ellie Simmonds has been honoured with a place on Birmingham's Broad Street Walk of Stars.

The 18-year-old from Walsall won four medals at the London Paralympics, including two golds, to add to the two golds she claimed in Beijing in 2008.

Ms Simmonds was presented with her star at Edgbaston cricket ground.

The swimmer joins the likes of Ozzy Osbourne, Noddy Holder and Jasper Carrot on the walk.

Ms Simmonds said it felt "good" to have been given her star.

She said: "I feel really honoured to be in the Walk of Fame in Birmingham with so many great people already like Ozzy Osbourne.

"For me, just being a swimmer to have been recognised by Birmingham, where I'm from, is great."
