Elderly pedestrian hit by car in Walsall dies

An elderly pedestrian who was hit by a car in Walsall has died.

The man, who was in his 80s, was struck by a silver Ford Mondeo in High Street, Walsall Wood at about 05:40 GMT, police said.

He was later pronounced dead in hospital.

West Midlands Police said the car's driver had been voluntarily interviewed but no arrest was made and that the road had been closed while officers investigated the scene.
