A woman has died and three people have been taken to hospital following a house fire in Birmingham.
West Midlands Fire Service was called to the detached house on Speedwell Road in Edgbaston just before 07:00 GMT.
The injured are a man and two women who fire crews said escaped by jumping from an upstairs window.
West Midlands Police said it was treating the cause of the fire as suspicious and forensic teams were searching the house.
West Midlands Ambulance Service said attempts were made to resuscitate the woman but she was confirmed dead shortly after arriving at the Queen Elizabeth (QE) Hospital.
A second woman, believed to be in her twenties, was taken to the QE with a broken leg, along with a man, in his thirties, who had back pain and fractures to his wrist and ankles.
A third woman, believed to be in her fifties, was taken to City Hospital with back pain.
Eyewitness Michael Davis was one of the first on the scene.
"I saw loads of smoke coming from the house on Speedwell Road, the whole outside of the house porchway was on fire when I got there," he said.
"Me and another bloke ran up to the house and banged on the windows and woke the occupants up in the house.
"One man jumped out of the back window and we were calling for the others to jump out. We caught two women who jumped, but one person was still left inside the house.
"It was quite terrifying actually because there was a lot screaming. There was one person left in the house and the firefighters brought them out about 15 minutes after they got there."
Mohammed Rathore, who lives in Speedwell Road, said: "It was a shock for first thing in the morning, we saw the black smoke and heard screaming.
"Everybody was panicking and I am really shocked to hear she has died, they are a very nice family."
