CCTV released following Willenhall dog canal death

2013-01-04 18:08:55

CCTV footage has been released of a man police want to talk to after a pet dog was taken and found dead in a canal.

Holly, a Staffordshire bull terrier, was removed from its kennel in Farmhouse Road, Willenhall, West Midlands, in an attempted burglary.

Police said it was thought the four-year-old dog may have been taken on 11 December for fear its barks would have drawn attention to the crime.

The footage shows another attempted burglary in Walsall the day after.

In this incident the man spent almost 10 minutes trying to break into a home in Wolverhampton Road West by repeatedly hurling stones and pebbles at a patio door until it smashed.

He left empty handed after triggering an alarm.

The man was said to be a skinny white male with short dark brown or black hair, West Midlands Police said.

It released the footage from the back garden in the hope the man would be recognised.

An unsuccessful attempt was made to force entry to the property in the incident when the dog was taken, police said.
