Care workers in court over nursing home death

Two care workers have appeared in court accused of wilfully neglecting an 85-year-old nursing home resident.

Benter Ouma, 31, and Sabrina Hewitt, 39, are alleged to have failed to seek medical help for Norah Boyle.

Birmingham Magistrates' Court heard the women are accused of failing to use proper handling procedures, causing a fall, on 5 September last year.

Mrs Boyle, a resident of The Green Nursing Home, Kings Norton, died of a head injury.

Both women are also accused of giving false information, which delayed proper medical treatment.

Ms Ouma, of Summerfield Crescent, Edgbaston, and Ms Hewitt, formerly of Uplands Road, Handsworth, were bailed to appear at Birmingham Crown Court on 16 January.
