An online TV channel run by young people will be launched in Birmingham later.

YouthTelevision (YTV) said it will show "youth-oriented programming" via its website, phone apps and on YouTube.

The programmes will be produced by a team of 15 volunteers aged between 16 and 25.

Chadwick Jackson, 21, has helped produce a short film about a Bollywood version of Shakespeare's Much Ado About Nothing.

"[YTV] have a lot of resources to help inspire you - it has the feel of a family but you have a professional standard to maintain," he said.

YTV has been set up using a grant from the British Council's Active Citizens programme.

The volunteers come from inner city areas of Birmingham, Walsall, Coventry and Wolverhampton.

Lord Jones of Birmingham will formally launch the channel at 13:00 GMT.
