Temperatures are set to plummet to as low as -3C tonight as the big freeze arrives in Birmingham and the wider West Midlands.
And some areas will see dense freezing fog tonight, with motorists advised to take extra care on the roads which will be patrolled by gritter lorries from 8pm.
Weathermen are predicting a cold, grey and misty start to Tuesday with temperatures only reaching 4 to 5C.
Leon Brown, meteorologist at The Weather Channel UK, said: "The weather is fairly typical for late November and it will feel like feel like winter is on our doorstep. There will be frost and some areas of dense freezing fog tonight."
Wednesday and Thursday will remain cold, although temperatures will rise to between 5 to 7C. Both days are set to be grey and misty with some early drizzle patches.
Friday will be warmer, with the thermometer hitting highs of 10C across the West Midlands, while the weekend should remain dry and cloudy.
