A teenager has been charged with the murder of 16-year-old Ben Morutare in Smethwick.

The 18-year-old, from Birmingham, was formally charged with the offence and violent disorder on Friday evening and remanded in custody overnight.

West Midlands Police said he was due to appear at Wolverhampton Magistrates Court on Saturday.

Ben died after being stabbed outside the Home Guard & Old Comrades Club on Oldbury Road, Smethwick, on 28 July.

It is the second murder charge in the police investigation and in October a further four people were also charged with violent disorder in relation to the incident.
