Three men have been jailed for the manslaughter of a 54-year-old man who was beaten over several days.

Balbir Singh, a father of three grown-up children, died in Tividale in March, Wolverhampton Crown Court heard.

He sustained 150 injuries after being beaten over several days by people he had considered friends, police said.

Inderjit Singh Dhesi, 31, of Oldbury; Paramjit Johal, 51, of Tividale, and Paramjit Singh, 46, of Gravesend, were each sentenced to 13 years.

Dhesi of Brades Road; Johal of Baldwin Close and Singh, from Wallace Park, were found guilty of Mr Singh's manslaughter on 14 November.

A post-mortem examination found Mr Singh died from multiple blunt force trauma injuries.

'Blamed each other'

Martin Lindop, from West Midlands Crown Prosecution Service (CPS), said: "Balbir Singh was beaten to death over the course of the weekend in March 2012 at a house in Tividale.

"When his body was found, it had sustained over 150 injuries.

"Not content with assaulting him, the three defendants then proceeded to degrade him.

"The victim was an observant Sikh and he kept his hair uncut and wore a turban. The three men first cut his hair and beard, and then they continued with the humiliation by stripping him naked and photographing him."

Mr Lindop said it had been a difficult case to prosecute because the three defendants had all been present at the address over the weekend of 3 March "but each blamed the other" for what had happened to the victim.

"All of them played a part in assaulting him, and although we could not prove that they intended to kill him or to do him really serious harm, the cumulative effect of his injuries resulted in the victim's death," he added.
