Armed police responding to reports that a gun had been discharged during a fight in West Bromwich seized a huge haul of firearms.

Officers were called to Poultney Street just before 4pm on Friday.

They found several people had been in a brawl and some had minor injuries.

The shotguns and small calibre weapons, believed to be legitimately owned and licensed, were then seized from a property.

A West Midlands Police unit first released details of the find on Twitter on Saturday.

A picture was released on the @SWResponse account showing the arsenal of shotguns and rifles with the words: "A good haul by D unit today, multiple weapons seized from an address and taken off the street."

The account issues tweets from Sandwell's five 24/7 response teams

Stunned Twitter users quizzed officers over the image, @YorkieyBoyPaul said: "B***dy hell, one person had all them, why?"

While, @TOMWBAFC1 asked: "All them from just 1 house."

Officers replied: "Yes these were from only 1 house not sure how he has been able to select such a haul?"

Both armed and unarmed police units attended the disturbance and made four arrests.

Investigations continuing into reports of the discharged weapon.

A 43-year-old man was arrested for a firearms offence, two men aged 21 and 24 were arrested for public order offences and a 33-year-old woman was arrested for attempted wounding with intent.

None of the injured people required hospital treatment.

Anyone who witnessed the disorder and can help police with their enquiries is asked to call them on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
