A man has appeared in court charged with the murder of a man at a house in the West Midlands.

Officers found the body of Anthony Paul Brown, 45, on Friday at the property in Kingsbury Road, Erdington.

A post-mortem examination has taken place, but police said more tests were needed to establish the cause of death.

Joseph Silver Snape, 27, of Kingsbury Road, was remanded in custody at Birmingham Magistrates Court to appear at the city's crown court on Thursday.

West Midlands Police also want to trace Michael Herrington, 21, a neighbour of Mr Brown who has gone missing.

Det Ch Insp Wayne Jones said: "We want to trace [Mr Herrington] as part of our investigation.

"We need to establish where he is, that he is safe and well and whether he has any information that can help our inquiries."

A photo of Mr Herrington has been released by police after he failed to return home.
