A third man, Shaun Mills, 27, was found guilty of manslaughter and robbery at a previous hearing.

The attack on the married father-of-two happened on the evening of 9 November.

The force of a blow inflicted by Robertson with a metal bar shattered Mr Jawaid's skull, and bone fragments impacted his brain. His van, filled with mobile phones, was stolen, the court heard.

Mr Jawaid, from Ward End, Birmingham, died a week after he was put in an induced coma.

Victoria Jones, special casework lawyer for West Midlands Crown Prosecution Service's complex casework unit, said: "This was a brutal attack which was carried out by a group of dangerous and violent men on a hard working and respected businessman.

"Mr Jawaid was a part-time wholesaler of mobile phones and on the day of the attack, he had purchased a large consignment of mobile phones."

He added: "Shaun Mills, was already in the shop and observed the arrival of the phones... He seized this opportunity to call his fellow defendants to direct and execute the robbery.

Mr Jawaid's family said in a statement: "Ali was a law-abiding hard working gentle living family man who... will be terribly missed by all who were lucky enough to have had their lives touched [by him]."

Sentencing is due to take place at at Warwick Crown Court on 10 April.
