95-yr-old Mother and 64-yr-old daughter found dead

2013-02-12 11:13:07

A 64-year-old woman and her 95-year-old mother have been found dead at a house in Birmingham.

Police and fire crews forced their way into the terrace house in Balaclava Road just before 19:00 GMT on Monday after neighbours said they were concerned for their welfare.

Officers said they were treating the deaths as unexplained.

Forensics experts are at the scene. Officers said they were trying to trace the pair's next-of-kin.

Det Insp Pete Dunn, of West Midlands Police, said neighbours contacted the force because they were concerned that neither woman had been seen for some time.

He said the neighbours had seen the pair's fire was on through the window of the house, but were unable to get an answer at the door.

Mr Dunn urged anyone who may have seen the mother and daughter in the past week - or saw anything suspicious in Balaclava Road - to contact them.
