Singer Trey Songz took to Twitter to hit back at claims that he was in some way responsible for the murder-suicide of NFL player Jovan Belcher.
The Heart Attack star was forced to defend himself on the social networking site after it was claimed the Kansas City Chiefs player shot and killed his partner Kasandra Perkins after she returned home late from a Trey Songz concert. He then turned the gun on himself.
Trey Songz wrote: "As sad as it may be, it has nothing to do with me. Sending prayers up to the families and friends of the people involved"
Police say that the linebacker drove to the Chiefs' training facility after shooting Perkins on Saturday (Dec 1).
Once there, he thanked general manager Scott Pioloi, coach Romeo Crennel and defensive co-ordinator Gary Gibbs for allowing him to play before shooting himself.
The couple had a three-month-old child together.
Kasandra's cousin Angela told Newsday: "It wasn't a healthy thing that was going on.
"There was just a lot going on. She was stressed. He was stressed."
She added: "It just started to go bad, but they had the child, and they were trying to make it work."
